GdS: Predicted XIs for Milan vs. Genoa – Allegri goes for strongest team

1 month ago 40

AC Milan will play their first home game of 2026 this evening as they welcome Genoa to San Siro, hoping to keep their winning run going.

The past couple of rounds have gone well for Milan as they took six points out of six from the games against Hellas Verona and Cagliari, not conceding in either game. However, the pressure is back on tonight against Daniele De Rossi’s men.

Juventus and Roma won on Tuesday to compact the top of the table once more, but Napoli dropped points at home to Verona before Inter beat Parma. So there is both a chance to gain on the champions but a need to go back to one point behind the city rivals.

AC Milan vs. Genoa: Predicted starting XIs

La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm this morning that Allegri has decided against rotating for this fixture, despite the fact another game against Fiorentina – away from home – follows just over 60 hours later in Florence. Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez are the two absentees.

Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia (back from a knee issue) and Strahinja Pavlovic should be the three-man defence ahead of Mike Maignan. Alexis Saelemaekers and Davide Bartesaghi are expected to occupy the wing-back positions.

Youssouf Fofana, Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot are down as the midfield three, with Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao the front two. If confirmed, it would be only the second time that the American and the Portuguese have started together in the league, with the derby win being the other.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Pulisic, Leao.

Predicted bench: Terracciano, Torriani, Athekame, De Winter, Odogu, Estupinan, Loftus-Cheek, Jashari, Ricci, Fullkrug.

Predicted Genoa XI (3-5-2): Leali; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Vasquez; Norton-Cuffy, Malinovskyi, Frendrup, Ellertsson, Martin; Vitinha, Colombo.

Predicted bench: Sommariva, Lysionok, Carboni, Fini, Stanciu, Masini, Venturino, Ekhator, Sabelli, Otoa, Cuenca, Thorsby.
