GdS: Pressure on Calhanoglu, Rabiot wild card – Allegri prepares ‘anti-Inter moves’

3 weeks ago 44

There are many reasons why AC Milan fans may feel confident for this weekend’s game. However, in the Derby della Madonnina, there is always more to focus on.

Games like this weekend are rare; there is a real chance that the winner could get a substantial boost in the Scudetto race. However, whether either team will play to not lose remains to be seen. They, perhaps, may both be happy with a draw.

Goal threats

Gazzetta dello Sport, this morning, write that Allegri is not taking that approach. Instead, he is trying to find every advantage possible, hoping to get three points in the derby, as seen below.

The frontline will be led by Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic, it seems. Leao should be the striker, whilst Pulisic may play off of him, to help with build-up and the link-up play to get everyone into the best positions.

However, the key to the game could be Adrien Rabiot, who will return to the midfield from the start. He is hoping to break his goal drought against the Nerazzurri, and with four wins and a draw under his belt in Rossonero colours, his return is a boost regardless of a goal.

The gameplan

His absence has been felt greatly in recent weeks, and with him back in the team, there is a greater hope that Allegri’s side can deal with their rivals. Though he will have a bigger task on his mind.

The report states that the Diavolo shouldn’t change their style of play, at least not regularly in the game. Instead, they will be ready to pounce in certain moments, and it seems this is where Rabiot will be key.

When Calhanoglu drops deep to get the ball, the Frenchman will rise to challenge him, attempting to limit him. Of course, it will be a team effort, but the key for this game may just be Rabiot.
