Christian Pulisic has recovered from his injury and yesterday, in preparation for the big derby against Inter, he played the full 90 minutes against Virtus Entella and got on the scoresheet.
As Gazzetta dello Sport begins (see photo at the bottom), a goal and a hockey assist almost made the Milan fans forget about the big miss against Parma. Sure, the match against Virtus Entella was just a friendly, but Pulisic sent a big message ahead of the derby against Inter.
Star duo back together
During the last international break, which took place in October, Pulisic suffered a hamstring injury while playing for the United States. The injury came when the American was the top goalscorer in Serie A, despite missing a penalty against Juve just hours before boarding his flight to the States.
Having been without Pulisic for a month, Milan have still been able to cling onto the top of the standings, but it’s undeniable that they’ve lost most of their attacking potential. Fortunately for Massimiliano Allegri, the No.11’s injury coincided with the full return of Rafael Leao.

The two haven’t started together since the first match of the season, the Coppa Italia against Bari in mid-August. So Finally, the Pulisic-Leao duo will meet again in the derby on November 23rd, which no doubt is a huge boost.
Unbeaten run
Yesterday, when the American was fouled rather harsly at the end of the friendly against Entella, some fans got very worried. Fortunately, it was nothing serious and the forward continued to play for the remainder of the game.
As such, he’s now fully focused on doing his best against Inter, which he hurt last season. After losing his first two Milan derbies in the 2023-24 season, Captain America has remained unbeaten in five consecutive derbies, winning three and scoring two goals.
One of those goals came in Riyadh in the Supercoppa Italiana final: a 3-2 victory that gave Milan their first trophy of the Red Bird era, while making sure that Simone Inzaghi came away with zero trophies in his final season with Inter.
Scudetto target
The big match, scheduled for Sunday next week, won’t be decisive in the Scudetto race but it could certainly be a crucial turning point in Milan’s season. In that sense, Pulisic was very clear in an interview with CBS…
“The Scudetto? That’s our goal, definitely. I don’t want to look at it from the negative side, like it will be if we don’t win. We’ll do our best, and we’ll be judged game by game,” he stated.
