GdS: Relight the fire – Milan considering restarting Dovbyk pursuit with Gimenez

An idea is forming at AC Milan, and it is to return to one of the summer’s main targets. Artem Dovybyk and Santiago Gimenez: Part Two.

Throughout the summer, a lot was said about the possibility of Gimenez moving to Roma, with Dovbyk coming the other way. However, the Mexican did not agree with the proposal, so it really did not get off the ground.

Of course, Igli Tare asked the striker, publicly, to consider the move. Then, at the end of the mercato, it seemed like it could happen. But the move fell apart, and the Rossoneri ended the summer with Gimenez still as the first choice.

The Dovbyk swap?

Now, with the striker failing to impress Massimiliano Allegri, at least not with his goals, the idea is being looked at again. This morning, Gazzetta dello Sport stated that it is ‘premature’ right now, but the thought is certainly there.

Dovbyk’s performances have been hit and miss this season, much like his Rossoneri counterpart, so Gian Piero Gasperini could sanction a deal to let him go in January. For the players, it would be a chance to relaunch, which could be a very appealing proposal.

It is certainly an idea to watch as the mercato draws nearer.
