Premier League sides are casting an admiring glance towards Davide Bartesaghi, but AC Milan have a plan to convince him to stay.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport write, Bartesaghi is living a personal fairytale that has become the guiding light for many youngsters as they navigate their way from the youth academy to the first team. In his case, aside from a couple of years spent at Atalanta, Davide has gone through every stage of the academy.
Davide in demand
His is a complex role because the left-back spot is a unique, delicate position. Milan still have to contend with the memory of Theo Hernandez’s lung-busting runs, before his tires went flat and he went off the road.
Of course, Davide is not the same as Theo: they are two different types of players, and two even more different people. However, even though the No.33 plays a decidedly less flashy style of football than the Frenchman, his name is now circulating in the elite circles of European football.

This is especially the case in the Premier League, a league that doesn’t ask too many questions about the potential cost of a player. If someone they like pops up on the radar an offer is made, and the financial pressures Italian clubs face can make it hard to turn down.
Davide renewed his deal in May until 2030, meaning he’s well and truly secured from a contractual point of view. He’s considered by the club to be one of the cornerstones around which to build the future team, and Bartesaghi is perfectly happy where he is.
English clubs remain alert though, especially Arsenal. The Gunners had their eye on him already this summer. For now it isn’t seen as an issue, but the more Bartesaghi makes headlines, the more temptations will have to be resisted.
