GdS: Renewals, Europe and the NBA – Milan set New Year’s resolutions for 2026

1 day ago 31

A new year means new resolutions and AC Milan have already set a few goals which they want to achieve in 2026.

It is nothing new for people to set goals to take into the new year, and for Milan, it is no different, even if they are slightly altered. You may want to be more active or make lifestyle changes, but it all boils down to improvements being made.

For the Rossoneri, it is the same idea, with a number of progression targets in mind.

The plans for 2026

Gazzetta dello Sport write that there are five things that the Diavolo want to achieve this season, at a minimum, with each being rather obvious.

The first four regard the team, and it starts with the goal to return to European football and, more specifically, the Champions League. Of course, Massimiliano Allegri has driven this idea home already, but it is still a target, and it is not being minimised.

Then, again somewhat obviously, is the determination to define the stadium project more, which will be done in conjunction with Inter. A design is hoped to be worked upon this year, and the project should be ready for the start of 2027.

Following those, the mercato is the next two goals. In this year, the Diavolo want to find a ‘generational No.9’. This summer will probably be the time to bring a starting striker to San Siro, with Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku failing to impress.

Additionally, it will be a year to finalise some key renewals, which has been a focus for some time now.

Finally, and perhaps most interestingly, a decision will be made regarding the NBA Europe league. Whilst the idea will not begin until 2027, the deadline for sign-ups is soon and with Gerry Cardinale’s interest, who knows. It will require investment, but the rewards could be worthwhile. One to consider, certainly.
