GdS: Return to Australia in February – process underway to move Milan-Como

This morning, a report has confirmed that the process has begun to allow AC Milan to play Como in Australia in February.

There have been suggestions that Milan could play a game abroad for a few months now, considering San Siro will be out of use due to the Olympics. Rather than finding an alternative nearby, the club are considering a ground-breaking solution.

This, as we know by now, is moving a game to another country where there is a big market, and Australia is being seen as the big option, currently. Last summer, the Rossoneri faced Roma in Perth, whilst they will also face Perth Glory this summer.

In February, it could be Como.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) write how the ‘bureaucratic’ process is underway for the move to occur, with the FIGC already agreeing to things. Then, at a conference yesterday, Rita Saffiori, Deputy Prime Minister of Western Australia, and Tourism Minister Reece Whiby also believe the operation can go ahead.

However, the agreements from FIFA and UEFA have not been received just yet. It cannot go ahead until this changes. Nevertheless, there is growing confidence that this can be sorted. Maybe the Diavolo are going to go Down Under again.
