AC Milan simply have not been able to catch a break when it comes to injuries this season, and Rafael Leao is now at risk.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, rather than emptying, the treatment is a bustling place for Milan. Some are on their way out, but some are also in danger of coming in. Leao himself is standing there, having been substituted at half-time against Atalanta two nights ago.
Leao in doubt
Massimiliano Allegri immediately cited physical reasons for his decision, stating: “Rafa hadn’t been feeling great during the week and couldn’t get going.” That led to a scan on Wednesday, which ruled out any injuries but confirmed hip inflammation.
This inevitably affects Leao and his style of play, which relies on sprinting and quick movements. There’s still some doubt about his availability for Roma because there are only a couple of full days of training left, which doesn’t offer much time to fully recover.

That doesn’t mean Leao won’t try: on the contrary, he will do everything he can to be there and the decision will be made in the next two training sessions. Leao is a sure starter against the Giallorossi if he is fit, given his three goals in three games in the league.
Christian Pulisic remains out of the mix and will try to return against Parma, so Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christopher Nkunku are battling for the possible spot alongside Leao. As for Santiago Gimenez, he has an ankle issue and isn’t 100% sure to be available either.
