GdS: ‘San Siro devilish’ – Milan to extend attendance lead with sell-out vs. Pisa

AC Milan will take to the field in front of another sell-out crowd at San Siro this evening against Pisa, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports that all the tickets for the game tonight have been snapped up, away fans excluded. The hype surrounding Massimiliano Allegri’s new Milan side is driving sales, and the Rossoneri have the highest average attendance in the league.

San Siro fever

Since the match against Napoli, the Curva Sud has also made itself heard again. Against Fiorentina, flags and banners were once again seen in the stadium. A noisy and colourful San Siro helped Allegri’s team hold onto a lead against Napoli with 10 men and come from behind to beat La Viola.

The crowd, in short, was the 12th man, thanks in part to the club’s mediation with the Milan Prosecutor’s Office and the ultras following the well-known ‘Doppia Curva’ investigation, which targeted the Curvas of Milan and Inter.

These restrictions have been partially relaxed to return to normality, while still maintaining a healthy passion for their team. “You are devastating!” wrote Matteo Gabbia on Instagram a few days ago to praise and thank the Rossoneri fans.

Thus, tonight’s opponents will once again have to contend with an additional obstacle: the San Siro effect. Allegri himself has faith in the Milan fans, though he tries to curb any easy enthusiasm, stating in his presser conference: “The fans can dream, we have to work.”

Even without the away fans – who are banned from travelling due to violent clashes with Verona supporters – the game against Pisa is still expected to exceed 70,000 fans. So far, only one Milan home game did not hit the 70,000 attendance mark, and that was because Bologna didn’t travel in solidarity with the ultras of the Milanese clubs.

In Serie A attendance figures, it’s Inter who trail the Rossoneri, with an average of just over 70,000 spectators. Further behind are Roma (over 63,000), Napoli (over 50,000) and Lazio (just under 47,000).
