The next month could be telling for the Scudetto, with a potential five-team race possible and AC Milan look solid enough.
At the start of the season, many expected Napoli and Inter to fight for the title. However, Milan and Roma have both posed threats to the duo and spread the race into a four-team fight. It may extend further, though.
Race for five?
Over the next few weeks, things will either be opened or closed at the top. Napoli play Inter, and that could create a gap, extend it, or even close it for others, as Gazzetta dello Sport reports (seen below).
As a result, it means that others could be given a more interesting run. Juventus have the most favourable fixtures: Pisa (away), Lecce (home), Sassuolo (away) and Cremonese (home). A possible 12 points, which would almost definitely put them into the conversation.
For the Rossoneri, it is Verona and Genoa at home, with trips to Cagliari and Fiorentina also on the cards. On paper, this would seem a fairly nice run of games, but considering the struggles against the teams outside the European and title races, it looks like a tough terrain.
Roma have an up-and-down run, as do the Neapolitans and Inter. Considering the lack of European football, it could be a chance for the Diavolo to confirm their Scudetto ambitions. The race is not yet run, and there is time to go.
Things certainly could be made more interesting in the weeks to come.
