GdS: Suzuki, Caprile, Atubolu – Milan position themselves ready for goalkeeping carousel

There could well end up being a goalkeeping carousel this summer in Serie A, which AC Milan look set to be involved in.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan are at the forefront of the rumours surrounding goalkeepers, having already been informed of Mike Maignan’s desire to move abroad, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the running to sign him on a free transfer.

So, Igli Tare is tasked with identifying a quality replacement to replace the French international. Inter and Juventus are also focusing on this position, with Yann Sommer on an expiring deal and Michele Di Gregorio not entirely convincing.

The names to watch

Milan are admirers of Zion Suzuki because of his modern interpretation of the position. Keep an eye on Inter though, because Chivu – during his time at Parma – saw first hand how good the Japan international is. His valuation is at least €20m.

SC Freiburg’s 23-year-old goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is a name Milan like, and he has already made it to the German national team. He’s been a starter for the past two seasons, saving six penalties in that time. Milan might have to move quickly though, with Bayern Munich also keen.

Marco Carnesecchi is a domestic name that is gaining momentum (but more so with Juventus), as is Elia Caprile. Cagliari spent €8m to sign him from Napoli last summer, and after his recent call-up to the national team they might look to cash in.

Two more names have been pleasant surprises in Serie A. One is Arijanet Muric, signed by Sassuolo after his stints at Manchester City. The other is Wladimiro Falcone, who by now is considered a veteran at Lecce.
