GdS: ‘The best Rabiot’ – Allegri’s praise difficult to deny after Bologna performance

1 hour ago 14

On Tuesday night, AC Milan were treated to one of the performances of the season by Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman was sublime, and the Rossoneri were left in awe.

When he arrived in the summer, there was a lot of talk about why Rabiot was a good signing. A fantastic player, he also showed that Massimiliano Allegri had some pull with the management.

Since then, he has delivered several emphatic performances, being decisive on numerous occasions. Now, the Diavolo don’t really expect anything less from their midfielder, and that is a blessing. However, the bar keeps moving upwards.

The best

After the game against Bologna, as Gazzetta dello Sport recalls this morning (seen below), Allegri stated that the Frenchman was at his best ‘ever’. It is hefty praise, but it is also very realistic to suggest as much.

Pivotal in every aspect of the game, the midfielder is leading this Milan team in several statistics. Since the turn of the year, he has bagged three goals, all from open play. He covers 10.9km per game on average and also creates the most.

Rabiot’s mentality

Stats tell you one thing, but watching the game tells you another. Rabiot also leads the team mentally, alongside Luka Modric; the squad ‘feel’ his accolades, of which only Modric has collected more in the dressing room.

His focus is on the Scudetto, where he has already claimed that the gap to Inter ‘isn’t a lot’. Interestingly, Allegri and his protege never won that title with Juventus, perhaps they will do at San Siro…

At this rate, dreams cannot be denied.
