GdS: The financial concession Rabiot made to rejoin Allegri at Milan

AC Milan and Massimiliano Allegri are eagerly awaiting the return of Adrien Rabiot, whose impact since arriving has been huge.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall, Rabiot decided in the summer window that returning to Serie A and embracing his old maestro Allegri was something he strongly wanted. So much so, it turns out, that it was worth an economic sacrifice.

Rabiot takes a reduction

In the negotiations between Milan and Marseille, Rabiot also played his part. He and his mother-agent Veronique accepted the Rossoneri’s offer of a three-year contract despite a salary lower than the one the player was receiving in France.

Adrien earned over €5m net per year at Marseille, but his former club would have guaranteed him only a one-year contract (assuming the bust-up with Jon Rowe hadn’t resulted in other contractual consequences).

Rabiot’s agreement with Milan, however, runs until the summer of 2028, with a much lower salary. Lower than Marseille’s and lower than what Milan itself had offered him in the summer of 2024, before the midfielder decided to return to France.

Milan are offering him a platform though, to once again be a key player in Italy, alongside a coach who knows him and who will develop his potential by giving him a key role. There’s always a way to increase his earnings, and Milan would be happy to accommodate it.

In fact, the agreement signed by the Frenchman includes a series of bonuses tied to personal and team performance. There’s a bonus if he lifts the Coppa Italia or Supercoppa Italiana, and an even bigger one if he wins the league. Rabiot is used to it: he already boasts 20 major trophies won.
