Today, Gerry Cardinale visited Milanello for the second time in less than a month, and it is important for several reasons.
The American was present at the training ground with the same group as last time, meaning Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani were all present for this visit. Largely, it was the same as last time, too.
He had a conversation with Massimiliano Allegri, whilst also congratulating Mike Maignan. Additionally, he oversaw training, meeting a few members of the squad and the staff.
Cardinale’s reason to visit
As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, this continuity of being present at the training ground is vital, indeed. It is part of a process to stabilise and above all, ‘consistent with the centrality that AC Milan places in the ownership’s strategic vision’.
Additionally, it may offer the squad a slight boost in the final stages of the season. It is a delicate part of the season, and with the Scudetto still there to fight for, he has given the squad encouragement without adding expectations.
However, it also shows his involvement in the project, especially now that Elliott have exited the club. Whether this will become more of a regularity is unknown, but it can only be seen as a good thing.
