Dusan Vlahovic is open to reuniting with Massimiliano Allegri at AC Milan, even if there are fundamental aspects of the deal to work on.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall, the day Vlahovic landed in Turin in January 2022, Allegri welcomed him as a precious gift for the Champions League. Now they could meet again in Milan, where the former coach of the Old Lady has moved for a Rossoneri encore.

For now, we are in the preliminary stages of things. Contacts have been initiated, the player’s general availability has been informally explored, cashing in on an opening. Which obviously cannot fail to please Max.

A difficult situation

The relationship between Vlahovic and Allegri has not always been idyllic, also affected by injuries, predominant in the Serbian’s second season with the Bianconeri, but the bond is strong and has remained so despite some misunderstandings.

The two have continued to keep in touch even after Allegri’s farewell and Dusan would have a hard time saying no to Max, opening up to a possible move to Milan as early as this summer. The Serbian does not want to renew with Juventus because he does not intend to accept a low offer.

He actually intends to stay in Turin until his contract expires (2026). So far the offers have not been particularly attractive: the only club to be serious was José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, but Dusan does not consider the Turkish league to be at his level. Saudi Arabia doesn’t tempt him either.

He thinks it is better to remain with the Old Lady, with the prospect of having more options next summer and being able to get a good salary without those who want him having to negotiate with the club.

What Vlahovic is aiming for is instead what Juventus would like to avoid, to cash in on his sale (the striker, who cost €70m plus €10m in bonuses three and a half years ago, has a residual value of around €20m on the accounts) and above all to save a year of very high salary.

The meeting between the parties – the new director of football Damien Comolli and the player’s agent, Darko Ristic – has not yet taken place but Vlahovic has not given any sign of openness so far, despite knowing that he risks playing very little next season.

It is not only Ristic who dictates the strategy but also Dusan’s father, Milos, who has a great deal of influence on his son’s choices, especially the more delicate ones.

Talks with the Milanese

Ristic has already had talks with Milan and Inter for next summer, when Vlahovic will be released by Juventus, which is why the player is in no hurry to leave Turin. On the other hand if the opportunity to move immediately to the Diavolo arose he wouldn’t say no.

Milan have not made any official moves so far and won’t do so anytime soon, also because the more time passes the more Dusan becomes a problem for Juve and the club will be forced to lower their demands.

The main problem, however, remains the same, his salary. The Rossoneri certainly couldn’t guarantee him the amount he currently earns at Juventus and not even come close: they would probably be talking about a salary no higher than €6m net per year, compared to the current €12m.

Therefore, help from the Bianconeri would be needed. In essence, they should participate by paying the difference between what is owed and the new salary he would get at Milan, a hypothesis that is not contemplated at the moment.

It could instead become a possibility later on, if the tug of war between the striker and the club were to continue and Juventus were to find themselves with their backs to the wall: at that point, pushing him to leave with a sort of severance package could become the lesser evil.

Vlahovic is currently back home and is licking his wounds after a Club World Cup that was anything but exciting: two goals scored and only one appearance as a starter. Even with Igor Tudor, initially his great sponsor, he slipped back in the hierarchy, as with Thiago Motta.

Despite this, Vlahovic has decided to stay in Turin until the expiry date. Only Allegri, with whom he won his only trophy (the 2023-24 Coppa Italia) could make him change his mind.
