GdS: Vlahovic remains a problem for Juventus to solve – why Milan are an option

Juventus must resolve the future of Dusan Vlahovic before the end of the summer, and AC Milan have again been mentioned as a destination.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report this morning, a top striker has just arrived and (at least) another remains in Juventus’ sights. Jonathan David has joined, and Juve hope to pair him with someone like Victor Osimhen.

However, there is the Vlahovic puzzle to solve. The Serbian has been demoted in Igor Tudor’s hierarchies – at the Club World Cup only one game as a starter out of four – but there have been no contractual changes.

Vlahovic hasn’t changed his mind and aims to leave the club in just one year (July 2026), as a free agent and after a season with a salary of €12m. A clear project, unless something intriguing and surprising comes along. The classic train not to be missed: from Milan to Manchester United.

Meeting with the agent

Juve director Comolli, who inherited a complicated situation to say the least, will try until the last to bring forward the divorce proceedings to the next few weeks to get rid of a heavy salary in the immediate future and avoid the risk of losing Vlahovic for free.

The French manager met Vlahovic in the USA and in the next few days will meet the Serbian’s entourage, expected in Turin this week. A summit to update and try to find a compromise.

The options range from the obvious sale (starting from a valuation of €25-30m) to a one-year bridge renewal to allow the former Fiorentina player to relaunch himself on loan. Different paths, but the same objective: to change Vlahovic’s plans, so far not very attracted by Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Dusan has two priorities for the post-Juventus: maintaining the same technical and economic status. Fifty days of negotiations, however, are a lot and can unblock what currently seems like a dead end.

Vlahovic risks playing little if he stays in Turin, but without his farewell Juventus would have no space – and economic strength – to go for one between Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani.

Watch out for Milan

The Bianconeri are not in a position to give gifts – the striker weights around €20m on the budget – but every day they could meet the buyers more. The €70m man has become a market problem for the Old Lady and everyone outside of Continassa is aware of it.

Vlahovic does not seem to be in a hurry, and Milan are waiting as one of the clubs that could perhaps tempt him. Now it is a suggestion, but we will see at the end of August what the situation will be and if the conditions will be more advantageous.

Juve do not preclude anything a priori, not even the possibility of facilitating the deal. However, the possibility of paying the Serbian to then see him play and score elsewhere is not contemplated. At that point, it is better to give up on substitutes and exploit him until the last day of his deal.
