Signing a striker remains one of the priorities for AC Milan this summer, even if this might be difficult to tell from the developments. According to a report, there is good reason for that.
Having said goodbye to two strikers in June, namely Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic, Milan only have Santiago Gimenez for the No.9 role. This lack of strikers has been felt even more during the pre-season, with Max Allegri having to field Rafael Leao up front as Gimenez is on vacation.
Of course, it worked out well against Liverpool earlier today but ideally, the Rossoneri will have more than just one out-and-out striker this upcoming season. They know that as well, which is why there have been links with Dusan Vlahovic and others.
Milan ready to wait
As stated in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), while Milan are indeed keen on adding a striker this summer, whoever arrives will likely be the last signing of the summer as the Rossoneri are looking to seize an opportunity.
What this means is that Milan are eyeing a few players that could leave on discount deals once mid-August rolls around. Goncalo Ramos, Nicolas Jackson and Darwin Nunez are three examples, but it also applies to Vlahovic as per the newspaper.
Rossoneri fans will have to have a bit of patience when it comes to this position, as such, but waiting too long wouldn’t be favourable for the club either. After all, Allegri needs to spend some time with the player as well (before the season starts).
