GdS: Why Milan are reflecting on Pubill despite chance to close for €10-15m

AC Milan have pushed ahead in talks over Marc Pubill of Almeria, but now they are reflecting on whether he is the right name.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) this morning, Pubill is not the only name on the wish list, but at the moment he seems the easiest to land. There were new contacts on Wednesday, but the Rossoneri face strong competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers so cannot wait long.

Pubill: The right name?

The sporting director Igli Tare and coach Massimiliano Allegri planned to add at least one new full-back to the squad before the departure for Singapore, the first stop on the tour of Asia and Australia, scheduled for Saturday evening.

Time is extremely tight, so it won’t be easy to bring him on board with the rest of the squad, especially since Milan have yet to decide whether or not to pursue Pubill. Cost-wise, it would be a sustainable deal at €10-15m, while his wages are well within the parameters too.

So, from a financial standpoint, everything is fine. At the moment, the issue is perhaps more technical: Milan are still considering whether to speed up the deal to beat Wolves to the signing of the Spain U21 international. It seems, based on a Sky report, that Guela Doue of Strasbourg is preferred.
