AC Milan know the talent on their hands with Rafael Leao. However, there can certainly be questions about whether he is the best version of himself.
This summer, there have been several new signings. Most arrive with some sort of question, and in many respects, Leao can also be added to this category. Leao, this season, will be given a new task and hopefully can become a new player.
So far, as Gazzetta dello Sport write (seen below), the Portuguese star has not been seen this season. An injury suffered against Bari has clouded his potential to feature in Serie A. Hence, the idea of him being a new signing is effective and understandable.
Allegri’s point
In the team, Leao will no longer be a winger. Instead, Massimiliano Allegri wants things to be around him, so he will be the team’s ‘designated 9’. After a season of no guarantees, this season, there is one. Leao will be ever-present.
Expectations are high for him, after all, he set the bar high. However, he is determined to pay back that faith, and that is why he remains at Milanello preparing for the start of his Serie A season.
New discipline
The cooling break stands out as the biggest situation that Leao faced, and this set the tone last season. However, he has always been dedicated to the Rossoneri, and everyone in the club sees that. He is willing to make sacrifices, and the management expects as much.
This season, as he stated on a live stream, the management and Allegri have asked him to use social media a little bit less. Letting his performances speak, rather than responding online. Of course, he will still probably be present on these platforms. However, it may not be the same as it has been in recent years.
