Gimenez’s dad offers information on striker’s recurring ankle injury: “He was fine”

Santiago Gimenez had a scan on his ankle earlier this week, and his father has spoken about the issue and AC Milan’s performance against Atalanta.

An injury has probably come at the worst time for Gimenez. Milan need the striker to start scoring, and with others returning to the mix, it could be the end of his time as the starting option for Massimiliano Allegri.

In fairness, he has also played his own part in this. Had he managed to open his Serie A account this season, the conversation may be different. However, the cards are on the table, and Gimenez must start proving himself soon.

Recurring problem

An idea about a move for Artem Dovbyk is growing again, whilst there is a general consensus that the Rossoneri will survey the No.9 market ahead of the mercato opening.

Last night, his father spoke to Fox Sports Mexico about the game against La Dea, and also the ankle injury which is not new, interestingly, as MilanNews relays.

“The first half was very close, with Atalanta playing a little better. In the second half, Milan played better with the introduction of Nkunku; I saw him doing quite well. Ricci is also raising his game.

“Santiago has an ankle problem that comes and goes, and comes and goes… I think he took a knock and that’s why he asked to be substituted. I don’t know what happened; I haven’t been able to speak to him.”

“The match against Pisa was crucial, they dropped two points. Even though they were actually losing and then almost won, they left the pitch feeling as if they’d lost.”

Ankle issues…

“He has a problem that works, so there are times when he’s fine and was actually playing without any issues, and other days when he comes back and feels more or less pain. Honestly, I don’t know what it is… He has moments when he feels no pain and other times when it hurts a lot, it’s unusual. I spoke to him before the Atalanta match, he was fine, he felt good.”
