Olivier Giroud has revealed his hope that AC Milan get back into the Champions League next season, given they are out of Europe in 2025-26.

Having arrived from Chelsea in the 2021 summer transfer window, Giroud made a big impact at Milan during his three years at the club. He scored 15 goals in his first season, which resulted in a Scudetto win, scoring some important winners against rivals Napoli and Inter.

He was performing so well into his late 30s that it is believed that Milan offered Giroud an extension on his deal to stay at the club. However, he chose to move across Atlantic Ocean to join Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer, before returning in the summer to start a new chapter with Lille.

Giroud’s hope for Milan

Giroud spoke to Sky on the eve of Lille’s game against Roma which takes place this evening at the Stadio Olimpico, and his comments have been transcribed below.

“I spoke to some players, my former team-mates, even the physiotherapists, everyone at Milan. Allegri obviously does a great job, and the players are happy with this 3-5-2,” he said.

“I hope they have a great season, a better season than last year, because I want to see Milan in the Champions League or the Europa League. Good luck to everyone at Milan, I hope they win a trophy this year.

“The secret to longevity? I try to sleep well, find time between games, eat well, and train with a good lifestyle. I try to be professional, I pay attention to all the details: we are athletes and our bodies must be a sanctuary we must protect.

“And motivation, of course, when you have the determination to play. When I arrived at Milan with Ibra, it was the same for him: when you have motivation and determination, your body follows.”
