AC Milan have had an eye on young talents for some time; after all, the RedBird model is built around the idea of profiting from potential.
Buying talents at a young age before their value skyrockets is nothing new. However, this runs the risk of them becoming poor and not living up to their potential. Take Giovanni Leoni, for example, Milan were wary about spending big on an 18-year-old.
Now, he has moved to Liverpool, and he probably will not be available for anything less than €60 million for a good few years. Just like that, everything can change very quickly.
Last-minute mercato
He was not the only youngster of the Rossoneri mercato, though, and there was a name that emerged in the last few days of the summer. That, as GOAL reports, was Marco Palestra, the Atalanta talent that is now with Cagliari for the season.
According to the report, Juventus, Roma and the Diavolo were all interested, and the winger was in their sights. Yet, Atalanta did not want to lose him permanently, so he headed to his new club on loan with no buy option.
La Dea consider him a ‘true talent of Italian football’, so whether a move can be made remains to be seen in the future.
