Federico Guidi has made the move he did one year ago but in reverse, leaving Milan Primavera to rejoin Roma.

It was a strange season for Milan Primavera who played great football for large stretches but came up a bit short in the decisive games. Guidi’s side lost to Sassuolo in the quarter-final 3-0 in the Scudetto play-off and they were also beaten by Cagliari in the final of the Coppa Italia.

Nonetheless, when the official website confirmed the news of the coach’s departure, it was a bit of a surprise. Not least because the Rossoneri worked hard to convince him to join from Roma, where he had won multiple trophies at that level.

Guidi is the new coach of Roma’s Primavera team, they have confirmed. The former Rossoneri youth coach announced his reasons for returning to the Giallorossi on the club’s channels, with his comments relayed by MilanPress.

What does a second spell with Roma mean?

“Strong emotions, pleasant to experience and difficult to describe. When it comes to a return, it means you’ve left something that touched you.

“I left a club and a city where I had a great time, as well as people I’ve always remained close to. Coming back here is a great feeling, and we’re ready to pick up right where we left off.”

You leave behind Milan…

“I thank AC Milan and director Vergine for giving me the opportunity to look elsewhere. I had a great time there: it’s a club that improved me, and I’m leaving a team where I felt very comfortable. Then I felt the need to look around and take on new challenges.

“Initially, my priority was to return to senior football: I had offers from Serie C clubs. But Roma’s call had a special appeal and was the reason that pushed me to make my decision quickly.”
