Former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has made a positive impression so far since he signed for Bayern Munich— and the Colombian has been backed to have a good season by teammate Harry Kane.
At the weekend, Bayern Munich beat Stuttgart in the German Supercup — the equivalent of the Community Shield — with Diaz scoring what proved to be the winning goal. At the final whistle, Kane made his feelings clear on the signing of Diaz, with the England captain hopeful that the 28-year-old will prove a high-quality addition.
"He gets into that six-yard box, he makes those runs and he has got a great finish," Kane told Sky Sports. "I think it is important, especially in this modern football, for the wingers to be scoring hopefully 15 to 20 goals a season.
"The goal was a great run, a great finish. He had a couple of others that he was unlucky with in the game.
"For him, it will be great confidence. Scoring in your first competitive game for a new club is great and for it to be the winning goal is a perfect start for him."
Despite the arrival of Diaz, Bayern Munich missed out on snapping up Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen having been beaten to the playmaker by Liverpool. And Kane believes more additions are needed before the transfer deadline.
"It is one of the smallest squads I have probably played in," he said. "There is still time from now until the end of the transfer window.
"We have a couple of really good young players who have done well in the pre-season games, but we are a little light, if we are being honest. We are going to need everyone.
"With the squad we have, everyone is going to play, everyone is going to get opportunities. There are going to be moments where each individual has to step up and show what they can do.
"It is important to have that momentum to start the year. Thomas Muller only really left last week.

"We have to look forward, we have to move on. He was a big character but that gives other people opportunities to step up and be that leader, be that person."
Bayern Munich kicks off the new Bundesliga season with a home game against RB Leipzig on Friday. Diaz and Kane are likely to start in that game alongside Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry.
Liverpool.com says: Diaz is a very good player, but with two years left on his contract and with an offer as high as $88 million (£66 million) on the table, including add-ons, Liverpool made the right call to cash in. Now, it just needs to make sure it has enough other options in forward areas to help out Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
