Harry Redknapp names two Liverpool players in Premier League Team of the Week

Former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp has named two Liverpool players in his Team of the Week after the Reds beat Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby.

Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who has been a revelation in the first few matches of the new campaign, was a certainty to be in the side after a stellar performance. He scored and assisted in the first half at Anfield and ran the game from the center of the field.

So far this season, Gravenberch has arguably been the best player in the Premier League. He was superb in every match last week, playing well against Burnley, Atletico Madrid and then Everton.

"There can't be many better midfielders than Gravenberch at the minute," Redknapp wrote for Bet Victor. "This boy is playing so, so well for Liverpool.

"He’s got such athleticism and quality and is just dominating that area. His job isn’t necessarily to score goals, but he did that on Saturday, that was a better finish than it looked.

"To get an assist later on was just the icing on top, a brilliant performance and my star man this week."

In addition to Gravenberch, Redknapp also picked Hugo Ekitike out for praise. The Frenchman also scored and linked play well, seemingly having settled in straight away after a big-money transfer.

"Ekitike keeps delivering for Liverpool and fair play to the lad," Redknapp said. "With all the rumors and then the hype about Isak, it would be so easy for this lad to become a little disappointed.

"But he’s thriving and seeing it as a challenge. Right now, it’s hard to leave him out the side, regardless of how expensive or how good Isak is. He’s a silky, classy forward."

"We needed mentality today in a different fashion maybe than the few times before," Arne Slot said in his post-match press conference. "But we always knew how difficult a game this would be, let alone if you have proper preparation time.

"If you played your third game in less than seven days, against your rivals, then you know that the second half could be very tough.

"That's why I made my line-ups throughout the week as I did, for the players to be ready for this one because this was the most intense from the three, we knew this before.

"You could see how well we can play if we are fresh – the first 45 minutes, unbelievable, the way we played.

"But the second half was more difficult because of Everton, of course, but also because we ran a bit out of energy. But we didn't run out of mentality."
