‘He refused’ – Como president recalls how Theo and Thiaw said no to moves

AC Milan could have made two sales to Como in the past few months; however, things did not go that way, with both opting against it. 

Since being promoted to Serie A, Como have not been afraid to throw their weight around and are a club definitely on the up. However, in January, when the club made an offer – that was accepted by Milan – for Theo Hernandez, it was a bit of a shock.

It is the first real example of the newly-promoted side showing the spending power available to them, and this continued this summer, when another bid was accepted by the Rossoneri. This time, though, it was for Malick Thiaw.

The saga with Thiaw went on for a little while, with him not refusing the move for a short period. Nevertheless, he eventually opted to stay in Milan, which has proven to be a beneficial decision so far, it seems.

Thiaw Como

Today, the president of Como spoke to La Stampa about the rejected moves, and MilanNews relays his comments.

“We tried for Theo Hernandez, but it didn’t work out. The last one, in chronological order, was Thiaw, but he refused. I think he wanted to go to a more prestigious club or stay at AC Milan.”
