‘He’s really keen’ – Romano states Mateta is still interested in Milan move as Italian lessons begin

Despite suggestions that he could head elsewhere, it seems Jean-Philippe Mateta could end up at AC Milan. After all, the pair have been drawn to each other in the past 12 months. 

Before the summer mercato, the idea of Mateta was rising. A potential superstar for Massimiliano Allegri to take under his wing and make into his own striker. On paper, a fantastic alternative to the Dusan Vlahovic idea.

After all, the Italian has requested a lethal box-striker with a physical profile, which Mateta brings. However, someone of that profile did not arrive six months ago. Instead, Niclas Fullkrug arrived earlier this month.

Given the German’s success so far, it seems likely that Allegri will return to the table with ideas for a physical striker and the Frenchman should be near the top. He wants to leave Crystal Palace, and Milan may have financial freedom this summer.
