Tottenham captain Cristian Romero saw red, quite literally, in the game against Man United, and he’ll now miss some key fixtures through suspension.
It was not a good afternoon for Spurs at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils claiming all three points to compound the misery for Thomas Frank and Co.
The Lilywhites are still without a Premier League win in 2026, and they’ll also be without Cristian Romero for some time now after his sending off this afternoon.
Romero ultimately ruined the game for Spurs by half-time, giving his colleagues a mountain to climb by reducing their numbers after just 29 minutes.

Tottenham will be without Cristian Romero for four games
Romero picked up a straight red for a reckless challenge on United midfielder Casemiro, and will now miss the next four games.
That means he will be unavailable for the upcoming clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday night, as well as the North London derby on 22 February.
Beyond that, Spurs will also have to make do without the Argentinian for the trip to Fulham on 1 March and the home tie with Crystal Palace on 5 March.
He will be back in time for the game against Liverpool at Anfield on March 15.
It’s tragically ironic that, in the week Romero called out the club’s hierarchy for leaving the team short of numbers, the skipper has made matters even worse by ruling himself out for so long now.
Romero could get another ban later in the season
If that wasn’t bad enough, we could well see Romero pick up another ban later in the season. The defender is on eight yellow cards this season, and if he gets to ten before gameweek 32, he will receive another two-match ban.
If he hadn’t have been sent off today, he would have had seven games to avoid those two bookings. In a way, the fact he will miss the next four anyway does make it a lot less of a risk that we see that additional suspension occur.
Still, with Romero, you can never quite predict what will happen.
