This year, AC Milan will hope to secure a number of renewals, and talks are certainly underway for some important names.
Over the next month, it is likely that Mike Maignan’s future will become an even bigger talking point. His deal is one of the biggest to expire in world football this year, and with him becoming available for a pre-contract in the next month, discussions will be ramped up.
Players in focus
It is best to start with his future, then. Whilst there is certainly the risk of it heading to an open market, things are looking good from a Milan perspective. Reports in recent days have insinuated that there is a potentially decisive meeting taking place soon, and this is in the midst of Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that he is leaning towards accepting a new deal.
Of course, things can change quickly, and we have previously seen things look good in Maignan’s case. However, this is the best news that has been given in the whole saga. It’s not done, but it is the closest the Rossoneri have been in a long time.
Luka Modric’s deal is an interesting one, but it seems unlikely that anything major will happen in the next few months. The narrative has been constant for a while now – that a decision will be made later in the season.
It is not one to worry about, certainly not like Maignan’s.
Pietro Terracciano’s deal also expires in the summer. At 35, and with limited minutes, he may not have his deal extended. Again, though, there is no need to panic or rush with his situation. It is unlikely that teams will be waiting to pounce for a veteran back-up goalkeeper. It can certainly wait.

Elsewhere, there are three other deals to make note of, and they expire in the summer of 2027. So whilst not in ‘crunch time’ just yet, we are certainly getting there.
The first regards Fikayo Tomori’s future. However, positive signs have been given in the past few days, and the Rossoneri are feeling good.
A meeting took place in the past week, and all parties communicated a desire to continue together. Whilst finances and dates have not been confirmed, another meeting is scheduled.
Then, Christian Pulisic’s future is also a big topic currently, with the American in the form of his life. He is the best scorer in Serie A statistically so far this season, and his importance is greater than ever before.
Whilst there is no need to rush, Milan want to secure an extension sooner rather than later, and things are in a good place, even if nothing is really close. Things are expected to ramp up in the spring, with a Leao-type deal set to be offered.
Finally, things are looking slightly different for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Talks of a departure are only ramping up, and there is reportedly no talks scheduled to discuss his future at the club. It seems that he could leave the club in the next six months if there are no changes.
