Arsenal is set to dust itself off after a recent 1-0 defeat to arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as it prepares to face Villarreal in the penultimate pre-season friendly. Despite Pape Matar Sarr's stunning halfway line goal denying the Gunners a flawless tour of Hong Kong and Singapore, the build-up to the Premier League season has been largely positive.

Mikel Arteta will surely be content with what he's seen so far, boasting a 1-0 triumph over AC Milan and a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Newcastle United as testament to their summer efforts.

Arteta has also been active in strengthening his squad ahead of the new season, welcoming Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres to the Emirates.

Each new signing has been warmly received by the Arsenal supporters, and many have already made their unofficial debut in the iconic red and white kit of North London.

With just two matches remaining before the season kicks off – Wednesday's showdown with Villarreal and Saturday's Emirates Cup match against Athletic Club – Arteta will be eager to fine-tune his preparations.

The Gunners then kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17.

Arsenal is preparing to play their first home match of the summer, against La Liga heavyweights Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 6pm BST (1pm ET) on Wednesday.

The pre-season game between Arsenal and Villarreal won't be broadcast on terrestrial TV in the UK, or streamed anywhere in the U.S.. However, Gunners fans who haven't been able to nab a seat at the Emirates needn't worry, as the club's official TV channels will be airing the match live.

Mikel Arteta looks on

Mikel Arteta is making his final preparations

Arsenal TV will be broadcasting the game live on Arsenal.com and on their official app, with the full 90-minute match available to watch for just over $9 (£6.99). Repeat broadcasts will also be available to watch every three hours after the final whistle has sounded.

Discussing his side's summer transfer activity, Arteta said in his program notes: “I know it’s going to be the first opportunity for many of you to see our new players in action as well, and we are all very excited about how the squad is shaping up.

“They have all brought another enthusiasm again, and injected it into the squad. It’s shaken things up.

"They have all been welcomed into the squad by the staff and other players in exactly the way I expected.

“These new arrivals all add quality and depth to the squad, which is what we’re going to need throughout the season ahead.”
