Liverpool faces a momentous Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday, as the Reds lock horns with one of their great European rivals.
The clubs have met in four of the last five seasons, including last campaign when Liverpool beat Real 2-0 at Anfield. Trent Alexander-Arnold lined up in a red shirt that night, but, should he feature on Tuesday, will be part of the opposition side.
The defender’s return to Anfield, following his acrimonious exit last summer, has dominated pre-match headlines. Alexander-Arnold spoke in great detail about his love for Liverpool in an Amazon Prime interview ahead of the game, and posted an Instagram message stating he was “home” after landing back on Merseyside.
Whether he plays is another question given his return from a hamstring injury is still being managed. Alexaner-Arnold last played for Real on September 16.
Meanwhile, there are three precious points up for grabs. Given its mixed start to the league phase, with six points from the opening three game, Arne Slot’s side can only afford one more slip-up across the final five matches.
It’s a mouth-watering tie against two of Europe’s greatest clubs: the champions of England against the side that currently sits top of La Liga, and it should be an entertaining contest.

The Reds will also not be able to call upon the injured Alisson, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanno Leoni, but there was better news on Curtis Jones.
The midfielder has missed the last few matches due to a knock, but returned to training on Tuesday and is available to play on Tuesday.
As for Real, Franco Mastantuono is suffering with pubalgia and was not named in the traveling squad.
