Hugo Ekitike was carried off the field on a stretcher just 30 minutes into Liverpool’s second leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarterfinal.
Ekitike went down clutching his Achilles and was replaced by Mohamed Salah, leaving the French striker at risk of missing out of this summer’s World Cup.
Arne Slot’s side trailed the reigning Champions League winners 2-0 on aggregate at the time of the injury. Ekitike’s injury coincides with the return of Alexander Isak to the starting lineup after the Swedish striker missed three months with a fibula fracture suffered in Dec. 2025.
The extent of Ekitike’s injury is not yet known, but his inability to walk off the field under his own power sheds doubt on his availability throughout the rest of the club campaign for Liverpool and into this summer’s World Cup for France.
