There has been a lot of backlash for the decision to allow AC Milan to face Como in Australia. Now, it has come from the captain, too.
Talk of Milan playing abroad this season has been ongoing for some time, with the Olympics taking place during the playing season. So, naturally, the Rossoneri have looked abroad for a replacement option.
With strong Australian relations, the club decided to make a move Down Under for one game, and the process began. The FIGC have already given their approval, and the same arrived from UEFA earlier this month.

Maignan agrees with Rabiot
After this was confirmed, Adrien Rabiot spoke out about the decision, stating ‘It is truly absurd. It’s crazy to travel so many miles for a match between two Italian teams in Australia’.
Now, this message has been echoed by the club captain, and with relations already tense, this probably will not help things, as Milan Eye relays Maignan’s words.
“I totally agree with Rabiot. Nowadays, we consider the financial aspect and forget other things. It’s a Serie A match. I don’t understand why it’s being played abroad.”
