Fabio Capello certainly knows a thing or two about success, and the Italian legend has spoken about the new AC Milan partnership.

When partnerships are discussed, it is normally on the pitch. However, Milan’s most important duo this season could be the two off of it: Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare. Perhaps, they could even be the signings of the summer.

Together, they will assemble the new look Rossoneri and help mould it into their own vision of the future. Whether that is stability, for now, or success.

Capello’s review

Both arrive off the back of difficult jobs, Allegri in Turin with Juventus and Tare with Lazio. Regardless of their situations, though, they are well recognised and commended within Italian football and seen as advancements for Milan.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport today, Capello offered his verdict on the pair after the first few weeks of their relationship as the Rossoneri returned for the Raduno.

“Tare isn’t exactly a softie either. He had explained to me in the past how he works and I had a great impression. They are two people who can work together very well. And then between the sporting director and the coach, discussion is a must, even though it is clear that on certain things the final decision is the coach’s.

“Up to this point, it seems to me that Allegri is influencing the market dynamics; he is certainly not a ‘do it yourself’ type. Also, because the results are brought by discussion and collective analysis. I see the pairing with Tare as well-matched: one is an important sporting director, the other an important coach, who return together on a big stage.

“A high-level ‘return test’ for both, both have the grit, the anger and the desire to get results that unite them. To fix such a disintegrated environment, you start by knowing the players. You have to talk to them, get to know them better, humanly and in terms of the game, understand their path and their various whys.

“Put them on the couch and let them talk. Last year, there was no respect for the shirt, for the club and for the coach. The team needs to rediscover all these concepts. Broadening the horizon, Napoli and Milan start with the advantage of having found themselves earlier than Inter and Juventus.

“At this point in the year, two weeks of difference in the start of work are worth a lot.”
