‘I tell everyone it’s possible’ – Tonali fuels rumours of future Serie A return

Sandro Tonali has refused to rule out potentially returning to Serie A one day, amid reports about his agent visiting Italy.

The sale of Tonali to Newcastle United two years ago is still painful for a lot of fans, and many still dream of his return. Few players have connected with the supporters like the boyhood Milanista, and he was crucial in the conquest of the Scudetto in 2021-22.

It was reported earlier in the week that Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso flew back to Italy, by Goal.com. The idea of a return for the midfielder ‘could be reopened’ and he ‘wouldn’t say no’, but it seems to be Juventus that are most seriously linked with an attempt.

In the build-up to Italy’s must-win World Cup qualifier against Estonia, Tonali spoke to Vivo Azzurro about a number of topics. He was asked about the possibility of returning to Serie A one day, and didn’t rule out out.

“You can never know what will happen. I tell everyone it’s possible. I’m not closing the door on Italy; it’s my country. Maybe not now, because I’ve found my balance at Newcastle, but the league is getting better and better, the level of the teams is rising,” he said (via MilanNews).
