'I work with Erling Haaland at Man City - this is how he behaves behind the scenes'

Erling Haaland has been in sensational form for Manchester City this season, and one of the club's presenters has given some insight into what the Norwegian is really like

Erling Haaland is simply a "big kid" behind the scenes, according to a Manchester City presenter. The Norwegian forward continues to find the net regularly this season.

Since his arrival in 2022, Haaland has been nothing short of sensational. He came with significant expectations and exceeded them, breaking the Premier League record for goals in a single season during his debut campaign in English football.

Haaland has continued his scoring form, and this year has already netted 14 league goals. He has contributed five in the Champions League. Faraaz "FG" Ghaffur, who works for City as a presenter, has now offered fans an insight into what the 25-year-old is genuinely like away from the spotlight.

"Everything you see with Erling is what you get," said FG, speaking on In The Mixer, brought to you by Sky Bet. "He could have had a game where, this is probably only even last season, he didn't play well. You see him hounded by the media.

"But he's just a big kid. All he wants to do is have fun. He's very respectful to everyone. There are days at City where we are open to the media, and he is great with not just me but everybody else.

"Sometimes you have to think to yourself, 'Is this guy really doing what he's doing on a weekend and having nothing about anything negative?' He's a great guy. He's very funny as well. Unbelievable player."

The YouTuber and Esports gamer also believes that Haaland has not finished improving at City and could evolve into an even more lethal goalscorer.

He added: "You know what's scary? I think he could do more. I think he will do more. His mentality last season, when I've seen him still scoring the goals, when everything was difficult. He was still being in there in the conversations, and then you see the change this year.

"Haaland just seems like he's more relaxed. He's a YouTuber now. He is doing his side hustles and stuff and he's enjoying himself. If he carries on smiling, it could be dangerous.

"I think when I say do more it's not so much in terms of goalscoring, it is about what he's doing when he's got possession of the ball and off the ball. It's so much better this year already. He's so much better on the ball and he's involved in the link-up play."

Former City defender Joleon Lescott chimed in: "Has he ever needed to do that though? Granted, he's got better on the ball 100 per cent.

"But he never needed to do them things when there was Kevin De Bruyne. It used to be, 'I just need to make that run.' Now there's no De Bruyne it's, 'We're closer in possession so I need to be tighter. I need to be closer to the build-up'. He's just recognising that."
