Ibrahimovic tells anecdote on unfortunate accident during intense training: “I sh*t myself”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed a funny anecdote about how his mentality once got the best out of him, with some not-so-pleasant consequences.

During his time as a player, Ibrahimovic always put his winning mentality ahead of everything. This became very clear when he returned to Milan in 2020, instantly putting very high demands on himself and his new teammates, helping restore something that the Rossoneri had lost.

During the Scudetto season, this was almost taken to the extreme as despite suffering a very serious knee injury, Ibrahimovic made short cameos off the bench. In order to make those minutes possible, he had to empty his knee of fluid several times.

“I drained my knee once a week for six months. Painkillers every day. I barely slept because of the pain, I’ve never been in so much pain on and off the pitch,” he said at the time.

Recently, Ibrahimovic was a guest on Slaven Bilic’s podcast and the Swede was asked if there was something that he had never shared with the public. Safe to say that the former striker delivered, not holding back.

“I had to finish a workout on the treadmill after I’d injured my knees. Six two-minute sprints with three-second breaks.

“I was nearing the end, I had to go to the bathroom, but I couldn’t stop. I ran and ran, I shit myself, but I kept running, I was fixated on the idea that I had to finish. If I steal, I steal from myself. I lose, not you,” he stated.
