‘In 2017 to see Milan’ – Erling Haaland reveals previous San Siro visit

Erling Braut Haaland will play at San Siro for the first time on Sunday night as Norway look to secure World Cup qualification against Italy.

In truth, the game should be a bit of a formality given the advantage that Norway have built up. They would need to lose by nine goals to Italy in order for the Azzurri to leapfrog them into top spot, so it looks like the play-offs beckon for Gennaro Gattuso’s side.

Speaking at the press conference, Haaland shared some background information on previous trips to Milan, and revealed that he came to watch a game. His comments are via MilanPress.

“My first time at San Siro was in 2017 to see Milan. The second time was at a Coldplay concert. I enjoyed the latter more. This will be my first as a player,” he said.

“Donnarumma? He’s the best along with Courtois – it’ll be fun to play against him. I don’t know Pio Esposito very well, but if he plays for Italy and Inter, there must be a reason. I’ve been thinking about the World Cup since 2019, and now we’re getting closer.”

Haaland is a big part of the reason that Norway are heading towards ending their World Cup drought. He has 53 goals in 47 games for his national team, a simply ridiculous record which is even better than his one at club level.
