‘In the title race’ – Vitiello believes Milan can be Scudetto contenders with one change

There is a genuine conversation to be had about AC Milan and the Scudetto this season. They are certainly showing that they can keep up so far.

Whilst they have not really led the division much, Milan have never been out of the title picture. Yes, they have potentially wasted opportunities – look at the games against Cremonese, Juventus, Pisa and Atalanta – but they are near the top.

It has not been a case of winning ‘easier’ games, either. Instead, the Rossoneri have picked up solid points against tough opposition, most of whom were around them last season.

Could, but…

Now, there is a case to be made about the Diavolo and the 20th Serie A title. It looks possible, and whilst no one is getting carried away, the idea is slowly becoming more feasible. However, Antonio Vitiello believes the squad is still lacking at this moment, as he writes for MilanNews.

“If Allegri could also get the attackers moving, after fixing the defence, he could really make a name for himself in the title race. But a lot depends on the productivity of the forwards. For now, that’s the team’s real sore point.

“The Diavolo aren’t scoring much with their forwards. Leao and Pulisic aside, the others are struggling. And if things continue like this, it wouldn’t be crazy to consider a transfer window move. Besides, it would be a shame not to capitalise on the momentum, which is why November and December will be crucial in deciding strategies for the January transfer window.

“The coach certainly wouldn’t mind adding a few more quality players to the squad.”
