Filippo Inzaghi believes that the Scudetto race could go down to the wire this season, with multiple teams fighting for it, but AC Milan hold an advantage of sorts.
It has been a strong start to the season for Milan with 13 points in six games, currently sitting in third place. If they had converted their chances against Juventus, they would have been in first place, so there are many positives to take for Max Allegri.
Having said that, with no team being the clear-cut favourite, it’s expected to be a tough campaign at the top of the standings. Milan believe that they can be in the running, especially after the positive start, and they also have no European competitions to focus on.
Inzaghi’s Scudetto take
Speaking to La Repubblica, as transcribed by MilanNews, the Milan legend and former manager Filippo Inzaghi shared his thoughts on the Scudetto race. In the end, the team with ‘the most desire’ will lift the trophy, he said.
“Juventus and Milan simply have to fight for the title, just like Napoli, Inter, and Roma. It will be a balanced season. Milan, perhaps without the Champions League, could have an advantage. Consistency and the group make the difference. Whoever has the most desire always wins,” he stated.
With Allegri in charge, you could definitely make the argument that Milan are much more of a united group. The players seem to believe in the project a lot and while individual brilliance has helped so far, the collective efforts have also been crucial.
