Antonio Vitiello believes that the AC Milan management have to obligation to help Massimiliano Allegri out with some winter signings.
Milan made the decision to go into the season with just 19 outfield players available. During the last international break, four players sustained injuries which decimated the squad, resulting in only seven substitutes being named on the bench for the Fiorentina game.
While the likes of Pervis Estupinan, Christian Pulisic and Ardon Jashari are due back in the next fortnight, it has been a very strong reminder of the delicate nature of a squad which is sorely lacking in numbers.
‘The squad will need to be strengthened’
In his most recent column for MilanNews, the journalist Antonio Vitiello spoke about what the injury crisis has taught Milan, and the two areas where the management simply must intervene in January.
“Overall, it didn’t seem like a great idea to enter the season with only 19 outfield players, especially in a game where injuries are rife (and international commitments, which often cause problems, must also be taken into account).

“This is why it would be advisable to intervene in the transfer market in January. First and foremost, to strengthen the defence, as Odogu is currently considered non-existent.
“Meanwhile, in attack, Gimenez and Nkunku will be evaluated, but if the goal-scoring problem persists, the squad will need to be bolstered. Allegri hopes to keep pace with the others until March, but to do so, the squad will need to be strengthened.”
