‘It’s a shame’ – Svilar left disappointed as Roma fail to get a point against Milan

Mile Svilar was one name considered by AC Milan last summer, but he was in the opposition goal at San Siro on Sunday night.

Over the summer, several names were looked at by Milan, and with Serie A experience and a good profile, Svilar was mentioned regularly. However, a deal was never completed, and the Rossoneri remain with Mike Maignan.

After Sunday, though, the Rossoneri will surely be glad that they still have the Frenchman, after he made a potentially season-defining save on Paulo Dybala, to keep the scoreline at 1-0, which the game would end with.

Svilar’s frustration

Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that the game got away from his side in the early periods. However, they fought well to get ahead and eventually get the win, and throughout the game, he could be seen looking relatively satisfied that his game plan was working.

Speaking at full-time, Svilar commented on the game, and MilanNews have relayed his words to DAZN.

How do you feel after a match like this that doesn’t bring you any points?

“You’re right. It’s a shame to put in such a positive performance here in this stadium and leave without any points. We can be proud of our performance; we still have a long, long way to go. We need to look positively at the future and at this game we’ve played. It’s a long game, and the points will come.”

Didn’t you pay much attention to Milan’s counterattacks?

“We were worried; we knew that counterattacks are one of their strengths. I think we played so well in the first half that this positive attitude kept us going, going, and going. We didn’t manage to score today, but if we play like this in the future, we’ll inevitably get points. We’re on 21 points and are up there with other big clubs. It’s inevitable that we’ll win a lot of games this year.”

On Dybala’s penalty…

“The one who takes penalties is brave, and it’s fair enough. For us, goalkeepers too, we’re there to save. It’s a shame it happened to the others this evening, but yes, overall it’s a 50/50 for the goalkeeper, and this time it went well for them. Next time it will go well for us.

Can you tell us about that save on Leao that was deflected by Mancini?

“I was a little surprised by Mancio; it was pure instinct to put that hand in. It was beautiful, and it’s a shame it didn’t bring us any points.”
