AC Milan held contacts with the entourage of Mario Gila in the past few days, and they could try to sign him in January.
While Milan kept a clean sheet on Sunday in their 3-0 win over Hellas Verona, Koni De Winter’s shaky form and Matteo Gabbia’s injury – plus the potential departure on loan of David Odogu – have left the centre-back department looking a bit thinner.
Gila: New talks held
According to journalist Alessandro Jacobone, new discussions took place between Igli Tare and the entourage of Mario Gila last week, with the Rossoneri director intent on closing the gap and beating competition from Inter.
Inter see it as a signing to target for next June, while Milan wouldn’t mind bringing it forward to the winter window, an idea that doesn’t seem to appeal much to Lazio. Within the Biancocelesti management, there are those who would prefer to see the Spaniard go elsewhere.

The frictions between Fabiani and Tare at the time of the Albanian director’s farewell are well-known, even though they were denied by Lazio back then. It could make things more difficult for Milan, though the player will of course have his say too.
After 17 rounds, Gila had made 15 league appearances and one in the Coppa Italia, confirming his position as a key player in Maurizio Sarri’s defence. In Allegri’s three-man back line, he could be deployed in the centre or as the right-sided centre-back.
