Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher's foresight regarding Mohamed Salah's future has been vindicated. This follows the resurfacing of previous remarks showing the Anfield legend was well ahead in predicting Salah's departure this summer.
It was lately announced that Liverpool great Salah will waive the remaining year of his deal and part ways with Anfield when this season concludes. He'll depart as one of the Premier League's most legendary figures, though that hasn't particularly stirred Carragher's emotions about his send-off.
This stems from Carragher's desire that when the Premier League season draws to a close, Arne Slot's squad will still be competing for Champions League glory. The former defender seemed fairly certain that a second European trophy would complete Salah's legacy at the club.

The big thing in my mind is [what] are we going to see from now until the end of the season?"
When Carragher made those observations, Salah's situation remained unclear after he publicly criticized the club. The Egyptian, who was preparing to represent his nation at the Africa Cup of Nations, was amongst several underperforming Liverpool players whose dedication had been questioned.
Salah claimed he had been "thrown under the bus" following his omission by manager Slot across multiple fixtures. Liverpool were enduring a worryingly poor spell at the time, prompting Salah to imply he was being made a scapegoat amidst speculation surrounding his Anfield future.
Carragher was amongst those who condemned the forward's conduct after his comments following a 3-3 stalemate against Leeds. He has since rallied behind the club icon, though, and tipped Salah to steer the side towards Champions League glory, despite their difficulties in other tournaments.
"The timing of Tuesday's announcement strikes me as both perfect and clever," he penned for The Telegraph. "There will, inevitably, be retrospective suggestions that the decision is a year too late, and that it would have been better for all parties had he sought his farewell when the club won the Premier League trophy last May."

Carragher continued by suggesting that by announcing his departure beforehand, Salah "guarantees the kind of emotional, grand farewell" he merits. Nevertheless, he noted that he wouldn't be participating in the Anfield celebrations, as there remained something far more significant to pursue.
"I have one final admission, however," he added. "While I will celebrate his career, I have no wish to be part of a grand Anfield farewell after the club's final Premier League fixture in May. Every Liverpool fan has something far better and more dramatic in mind.
"Knowing Salah's mindset and competitive spirit, he will be setting his sights on the greatest of all possible goodbyes a week later: inspiring his team to victory in the Champions League final in Budapest. Do not bet against the perfect send-off."
