Liverpool drew 0-0 with Leeds in the Premier League on Thursday, with Arne Slot's men drawing a blank in front of goal and Florian Wirtz struggling to make an impact.

And in the stands, it was clear that there was frustration at the lack of clear-cut chances being created, with Liverpool looking fairly one-dimensional aside from a short period in which Jeremie Frimpong beat his man a couple of times.

As the second half progressed, Leeds looked fairly comfortable and could even have stolen the points when Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw a goal ruled out for offside. With Liverpool on top but failing to capitalize, it would have been a hammer blow.

"Liverpool haven't got the crowd involved," Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports commentary. "It has been very flat."

Earlier, he mentioned the feeling around the stadium being one of frustration more than belief, with Liverpool failing to sustain much pressure on Lucas Perri's goal.

"Leeds have limited Liverpool to very little," Carragher said. "Liverpool are creating nowhere near enough."

Chance creation was a problem for Slot's side, with Hugo Ekitike starting well but tailing off. Wirtz didn't see enough of the ball and Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa, coming off the bench, made a very limited difference.

Slot, though, felt his team should have had a penalty when Ekitike was dragged back, and insisted that the referee fell for some Leeds tricks throughout the 90 minutes.

"I saw in the second half multiple times players who, what I would call, [were] being 'smart,'" he said during his post-match press conference.

"If a referee every time blows his whistle if you feel something or you get a little push and you dive and the referee every time gives a foul for that, maybe it is smart then to constantly fall.

"You are hoping that referees are recognizing these situations, you are hoping that if we do everything to stay on our feet and if we go to the floor then they feel like, 'This might be a foul because these players usually stay on their feet.'

"But the opposite is actually happening and that's frustrating for me to see because I think [there were] five or six free-kicks in their 18-yard box — there was one time a player that was on the floor, it was his body so we play on.

"Because even if we have four stitches on a head against Man Utd for a head injury, the referee says play on, play on, play on [and] we conceded.

"But now he didn't know how fast he had to give that free-kick, so if you then don't get the result you want, that adds up to frustrations I have in that regard. It is not the reason we didn't win — let that be clear — but it is the reason why I am sometimes a bit frustrated on the touchline."

Liverpool.com says: The hope has to be that the Reds can get the balance right soon. Slot has made the team more solid in recent games, but at the cost of limited creativity.
