Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has slammed Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher for his comments about Mohamed Salah — bizarrely labeling them as "unfair".
Salah claimed that he had been "thrown under the bus" by Liverpool and Arne Slot recently — as well as leveling several other accusations at his employer — but he has since apologized to his teammates. Slot brought him back into the matchday squad for one game before he headed to AFCON.
Following the comments from Salah, Carragher was among the prominent pundits to air his thoughts, criticizing the Egyptian for being selfish and putting himself above the team.
But Adebayor has claimed that Carragher was wrong to question Salah even after such a controversial outburst.
Carragher was picked out by Salah in advance as someone who might take issue with the interview that he gave.
"The way they have been treating Mohamed Salah lately is just unfair," former Premier League striker Adebayor said, via ESPN. "You know, some players were lucky enough to be born in certain areas.
"Carragher, I think, was lucky enough to be born in Liverpool — that's why he can proclaim 'I won something'.
"Mo Salah won the league; Mo Salah won the Champions League with them. Mo Salah's been the top scorer for them for I don't know how many years.
"I think he's even entering [the discussion about] the best ever player to play in the Premier League. That is huge. And for Carragher to come in and disrespect that person on air, that for me is just incredible."
Slot cannot pick his Liverpool team based on what has come in the past, however. Without Salah, the form of the group has improved ahead of matches with Wolves and Leeds United.

"Whenever Salah stops in the mixed zone, which he's done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it's choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position," Carragher had said.
Asked by reporters if he would like to stop following the team's win over Brighton, Salah laughed off the request. "Two weeks in a row?" he replied with a smile.
Salah is now away at AFCON, where he has two goals in two games for Egypt, who have already booked a spot in the knockout phase. He could return to Merseyside in the middle of next month, when the transfer window is still open.
