Ardon Jashari put in an impressive performance in AC Milan’s win over Lecce last night, and he confirmed a willingness to play in any midfield role.
It looked like it was heading to be another one of those nights for Milan, as they didn’t manage to take any of the chances that provided themselves in the opening 74 minutes. Then, in the 75th, Niclas Füllkrug was on hand to head home an Alexis Saelemaekers cross for the winning goal.
It was then Massimiliano Allegri’s who reverted to a low block, but they saw out the remaining moments comfortably in the end, with Lecce not even mustering a shot on target. The Rossoneri go three points behind Inter again, but perhaps more importantly seven clear of fifth place.
‘What the coach wants from me’
Jashari started the game in the centre of the midfield three to give Luka Modric a rest. He spoke to DAZN after the final whistle to give his thoughts on a hard-fought but a deserved win against Lecce, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews.
How do you feel after a game like that?
“I’m happy to have started and helped the team. The important thing was the three points, let’s keep it up. Happy for Fullkrug and his first goal.”

What is your best position on the pitch?
“Today I played as a number 6, but I’ve also played as an 8 in my career. The most important thing is what the coach wants from me: today he wanted me to play as a 6, and I tried to understand as best as possible what he wanted from me.
“It’s a different position, obviously. I also like playing as an 8. But the most important thing is understanding how to best play with the team, and I think they saw today that I can go even further forward. But in the end, obviously, it’s the coach who decides.”
What is your relationship like with Modric?
“It’s a gift for me to play with a player like that. It’s fantastic, not just for me but for the whole team. I hope to play with him on the pitch soon. He’s a fantastic person; we shouldn’t even talk about it on a footballing level.”
