Jeremie Frimpong has admitted it was "really annoying" to miss a couple of months through injury for Liverpool — but the Dutchman could be in line to start the Reds' next game against Wolves.

Having been sidelined since the Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt in October, Frimpong returned to action against Tottenham last Saturday. Emerging off the bench, he set up Hugo Ekitike's header that proved to be the winner.

Though he is unlikely to be able to play the full 90 minutes, with Conor Bradley rated at 50:50 to be back in time to feature at all, Joe Gomez injured, and Dominik Szoboszlai suspended, Liverpool might need Frimpong to line up at right-back against Wolves.

"It felt really good to be back out there with the boys and to win as well," Frimpong told the Reds' official website. "So, it was a good comeback, I really enjoyed it.

"Obviously injury in football is really annoying. I think it’s the worst thing in football — that and losing. But it’s part of football. I’m focused, I’m back now so I’m happy to be back."

Arne Slot suggested that Frimpong was a strong contender to play in the game during his pre-match press conference. However, he was unsure for how long exactly the Dutchman would be needed.

"I'm just going to be ready for whatever comes," Frimpong added. "As a footballer, you should be ready for any situation, so if I can help the team in any way possible, that’s what I’m going to do.

"I think it’s really important [to maintain that momentum]. Obviously, we play football to win, and obviously, right now, we are in a good mood — three wins in a row, and hopefully, we can just keep that going.

"But we know how difficult every game is. We’ve got to keep the mindset and just focus on every game."

Liverpool will be looking to win a third successive match in the Premier League when it faces Wolves. It then has Leeds United at Anfield a few days later, before a trip to Fulham.

"Every game in the Premier League is a dangerous game or a difficult game," Slot said. "I see the same as what you were just saying that [Wolves'] results throughout the whole season haven't been what they were hoping for.

"But they come closer and closer to results — especially Arsenal away, of course, where they were very close to a result over there. As always, there's a challenge in every Premier League game and that's the same for this one."

Liverpool.com says: Wolves at home is exactly the kind of game that Frimpong should be suited to playing full-back in. He will be given the chance to get forward often, and will have the speed to help snuff out counter-attacks.
