Journalist claims Crystal Palace want €60m for star man amid Milan interest

Crystal Palace have set a very high asking price for AC Milan-linked striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to one journalist.

The Milan management are starting to think about the January transfer window, although it is unlikely that fans should expect anything like last summer when five signings were made, including a sizeable investment to get Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

One of the big doubts surrounding Milan at the moment concerns the attack. Both Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku are without a goal in Serie A so far this season despite costing north of €30m, and both are being linked with an exit.

Palace set Mateta price

Speaking exclusively on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel, La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Marco Guidi discussed Crystal Palace striker Mateta, who has been repeatedly linked with Milan.

“Crystal Palace’s initial request is €60m to let him go. Generally, to reach other names, the departure of one of Gimenez and Nkunku is necessary,” he said.

Given that the request from the Premier League side would blow Milan’s transfer record out of the water, and that neither Gimenez nor Nkunku would fetch that much if sold, it feels like Mateta’s possible arrival remains closer to a dream than a reality at the moment.
