Journalist claims Milan management were split over Nkunku: “Allegri and Tare said no”

Last month, it seemed that Christopher Nkunku could have left AC Milan. However, the Frenchman remained, and at the first opportunity, he showed that it was the right choice.

Throughout January, there were several suggestions that Milan could part ways with Nkunku. Put simply, the Frenchman had not really performed to the level expected of him, so questions arose about his situation.

In fact, it looked like the Rossoneri were going to part with their summer striker addition after six months for the second year in a row. Though Nkunku opted against a move, preferring to prove himself to the club.

Nkunku’s saviours

Reports have stated that the damage may have already been done to the relationship, and his future could be revisited in the summer. However, it may only be one side of the relationship which is damaged.

Alessandro Sabatini commented on the situation via his YouTube channel, and his words have been relayed by All Milan.

“The players’ returns also depend on the confidence of the coaches; they also depend on some market details, more or less told, hidden. Here, Nkunku was on the market for Ibrahimovic and Furlani; he had to leave. Milan had spent too much money, so Nkunku had to go.

“Allegri and Tare said no, especially Allegri. They pampered the player’s will to stay, and the player repaid them with a performance of the highest level. I can’t change my opinion on the wings of a result. So I allow that Nkunku is not a first tip and can and must give much more.

“But the match against Bologna is exemplary of a player who is at ease with the coach, with his teammates, with the tactics.”
